Every California Southern Baptist church should have received a California Mission Offering Promotion Packet with the central promotional item being the 2008 CMO DVD.

Included on the DVD is a full-length fictionalized short film depicting the dark days in which we live, yet revealing the hope we have in Jesus Christ. If churches don’t want to play the entire short film in one service, they may choose to do so in four episodes. Each of the first three episodes depict the dark days in which we live. The final episode reveals the light of Christ and how he provides bright hope for dark days.

The full-length film or the episodes are ideal for use during Sunday morning or evening worship services or Wednesday evening services/prayer meetings.

The DVD includes a music video based on the short film and set to music specifically written for the CMO project. This is a perfect segment for taking an offering on Sunday morning or showing as an illustration as part of a CMO sermon about “Bright Hope for Dark Days.”

Two music files are included on the DVD. Both songs, “Come Home” and “Snow Angels” were specifically written for the 2008 CMO project. These could be used in a theme interpretation, as an offertory, or as part of a CMO sermon.

Choose the segments for your worship services during the month of September to help your congregation learn how their gifts to the California Mission Offering are used to fund projects to start churches and help churches spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, thereby providing hope for dark days.

The DVD is ideal for use in worship and prayer services, Sunday School classes and mission organizations. Members in your congregation will be able to relate to this short film will inform and educate them as to how the California Mission Offering helps provide “bright hope” through Jesus Christ to dispel the dark days of everyday life.

If your church didn't receive a DVD, it can be ordered online. There are a limited number of DVDs available since they were mailed to all churches.
