State missionary speakers are a great way to educate congregations about California missions. California Southern Baptist missionaries, Ministry Resource Center staff and directors of missions are available to speak at your church during California Mission Offering month in September or anytime you have a mission emphasis at your church.
Missionaries are located throughout California – we suggest you contact one close to you. This gives a connectedness between the church and the missionary simply because you both minister in the same area. Many times church members create a bond with missionaries who serve nearby and may even become involved in mission projects the missionary sponsors.
If your church has a specific interest, such as church starting or healthy churches, contact one of the state missionaries whose ministry assignment falls into the particular category in which you are interested.
Your director of missions also is a great source of inspiration about California missions. Most of California's DOMs are Southern Baptist missionaries appointed by the North American Mission Board.

If a missionary can't be secured to speak at your church, consider conducting a telephone interview using either a speaker-phone or cellular phone. Missionaries usually can provide photos of their ministries that could be displayed for the congregation through PowerPoint or other visual media while the interview is being conducted. To schedule a phone interview, it is best to contact the missionary directly and work out the details. Please use the lists above to contact the missionary who best fits your needs.
