Missionaries

About 100 missionaries and staff serve the more than 2,000 churches of California Southern Baptist Convention. Each of the missionaries serves in different capacities and in different locations, but their mission is the same – to help CSBC churches reach men, women, boys and girls for Jesus Christ.

The 2008 California Mission Offering supports church starting, healthy churches, disaster relief and mission action, associational projects and mission support.

The California Mission Offering supports California Southern Baptist Convention’s strategies of leadership development, new churches, mission support, healthy churches and communication. About 37.5 million people live in California and it is estimated that 33 million of those are unchurched. CSBC provides resources to churches in the areas of church health, missions advancement and church starting.

CSBC, in partnership with churches and associations, start about 100 new congregations each year; that is about 6 percent of all the churches started by the 42 state Baptist conventions affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. CSBC is a leader in church starting by providing resources and strategies for establishing missions and churches among ethnic and language groups.

Related to baptisms, CSBC remained ranked in the top 10 for all state Baptist conventions and fellowships according to 2007 LifeWay Christian Resources statistics from the Annual Church Profile submitted by churches.

With 16,877 baptisms, CSBC placed 8th in 2007. That figure is based on reporting from 63 percent of CSBC congregations.

We encourage you to lead your church to pray, learn, go, share, and give to support the mission projects, state missionaries, state staff and directors of missions who help churches in reaching communities throughout the Golden State.
